Today's ride was 70 miles with very modest climbing. It was a mix or roads and trails with perfect temperatures and clean air. Not much happened to report on (that's a good thing!). After 192 combined miles we completed in the last two previous days, 70 miles today seemed pretty civil! Our ride started near Brown City - a very small country town and ended in Algonac, which is located along the St Clair River near the north end of Lake Saint Clair. We rode right to a car ferry terminal located there. Tomorrow morning, we continue our journey east by taking this ferry into Canada. I think we'll end up spending almost 3 days in Canada before we take the Peace Bridge back into the United States at Buffalo, New York!
Seems hard to believe but now that we have covered almost 3,200 miles, this trip is coming to an end in less than 2 weeks. As long as we keep up our current progress, we are pretty committed to closing this ride out on Sunday August 2nd. We plan to come across on the Port Jefferson Ferry from Bridgeport Connecticut the morning of the 2nd and ride with friends across the island to Smiths Point Beach to dip our front tires in the Atlantic to close out the coast-to-coast trip. Wow, this is really happening and soon!
So many memories, the sights, the sounds and probably above all the people. Some of our interactions have been downright powerful! More to come! Sorry for digressing. Canada in the morning! Let's go!
