After our rest day yesterday it was back on the bikes for a two day ride down the Mississippi. Today was all on the Minnesota side and tomorrow will be almost entirely on the Wisconsin side. Tomorrow we say good bye to another state and enter Wisconsin which we hope to knock out by Wednesday evening.
76 or so miles today - kind of our typical distance now that the climbing isn’t so intense. Combination of some urban trails, some secondary roads, some rail to trail. a little bit of dirt and quite a bit of highway shoulder today. The heat krept up to about 90 with lots of sun. Not much that was terribly interesting on the ride today but we did have killer rotisserie chicken for lunch in Red Wing, so there’s that!
Kevin is back in the driver’s seat providing us with hydration and some PN&J sandwiches. Rick got home last night. What a crew of awesome volunteers between Kevin, Jenny and Rick! I know I’ve said it before, but you have no idea how appreciative we are!
So, with Minnisota now crossed, we have ridden across 7states in all. Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, South Dakota and Minnesota! It’s crazy to wrap your head around that we focussed, worked hard every day and did this in just over one month! With our rest days included (Day 19 and 33), we are holding a respectable 71 miles per day for the 34 days we’ve been pedaling for the puppies!
