Day 26 - More of the Badlands around Interior, SD and on to the prairies to the East

It been a long day, and I don't have much energy to write now. Overall, the ride went well, and we covered the distance we planned. The temperatures were pleasant, though the winds weren't in our favor, with some headwinds, particularly early on. The views in Badlands National Park were breathtaking, but this was only a short segment of the morning ride, with most of the ride on East / West Route 44—a road that was once a major highway and now serves as a service road for Interstate 90. The fact that it is a local road, there was very little traffic as I-90 is preferred if you need to get somewhere! The rolling hills were constant but with decreasing headwinds improved as the day went on. We are getting close now to the Missouri River, which is now a little less than 90 miles away. The Missouri River marks about the halfway point of our journey!

The Puppy Ride Long Island team is now 26 days into our ride across America! Our Coast-to-Coast journey for the Guide Dog Puppies at The Seeing Eye, Inc.! To-Date, we have maintained 71 miles per day average and stand at about 1,850 miles with over 82,000 feet of ascent complete! We have seen so much and met so many interesting people across the West and now Midwest. We've told so many people about The Seeing Eye and what they do. Our business cards have been great to hand out along the way. I bet we've handed out a couple of hundred of them.
