We’re moving east along the canal. Today is day two and after about 68 miles today, we’re approaching the half way point between Buffalo and Albany. Flat riding mostly with a high percentage of smooth crushed stone.
Wonderful breakfast 27 miles in from our start with Steve and Maureen (Steve is my brother-in-law’s brother). We visited with them on Puppy Ride 2023 when we last rode the Erie and got to visit with Steve’s son in Seattle at our event there this year. Was great visiting with them! And they graciously bought us our meal and made a very generous donation to our campaign for the puppies!
Meeting so many family and friends on this journey has made it that much more special!
Generally an easy day. I underestimate the beauty of the Erie with this being my third crossing. It really is a special resource (albeit a manmade one once upon a time). Pretty cool historic story too - “Clinton’s Big Ditch” and all.
Tomorrow we hit the canal once again riding from Clyde over to a little town named Fort Plain, New York. 69 more miles closer to the end of our journey! Rain is starting to come into the forecast going into the new week. Hopefully not too much but we have the gear and can handle it.
