Day 2 - Ranier to Troutdale

Today was a mixed bag for the Puppy Ride team. We began the morning with approximately 40 miles of intense highway travel under a cold rain. This led us to a fantastic lunch venue—a 1905 theater and eatery initially constructed by National Cash Register as their World's Fair pavilion in a suburb of Portland, Oregon. The rest of the day's ride involved bike trails and dry weather as we traveled through Portland. Almost a perfect afternoon if it wasn't for a major tire blowout on Jim's bike from what we think, was broken glass as we rode past a homeless encampment! It was a relief to be away from the major highway and the rain though! We covered 63 miles with a moderate ascent of 1,300 feet. A bigger day is planned for tomorrow!
