It was a delightful day on a bike path next to Route 93 heading south, eventually spending some time on the shoulder of 93 after the paved bike trail ended near Hamilton, Montana. Today was special for the Puppy Ride team as we welcomed a fourth Long Island rider for the week - Jenny Pearlman! Jenny brings positive energy and a passion for ultra running and cycling, having accomplished some impressive running feats and bike rides over the past few years. In fact, she cycled all the way across the USA when she was 18!
By the numbers, we have covered 802 miles in our cross-country journey and climbed 36,000 feet. That's about 20% of the riding distance completed and just over 30% of the total climbing done! Our fundraising for the Seeing Eye has surpassed $42,000 so far. This is approximately 28% of our goal for this year, with your help! Our target is $150,000 between the cross-country ride and our event in August in Burlington, Vermont!
Tonight, we are staying in the small Montana town of Wisdom. The population is just over 100, but they have a nice general store and restaurant. We need some rest because first thing in the morning, we face a significant 2,500-foot 10-mile climb to the top of a 7,200 ft peak. We're now deep into the challenging part for us flatlanders!
